Interval hypoxia hyperoxia therapy IHHT PLUS

Oxygen training for your health, vitality & beauty

What is IHHT?

Every process in your body and every movement requires energy. This energy is supplied to the body in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) by the body's own power plants, the mitochondria. These mitochondria are found in almost every human cell and must constantly provide new supplies, as ATP cannot be stored in the body. The main fuel for the mitochondria is oxygen, which brings us to our topic: IHHT = Intermittent Hypoxic-Hyperoxic Therapy. During the therapy, the body is alternately exposed to oxygen-depleted (hypoxic) and oxygen-rich (hyperoxic) air.

IHHT is a medical advancement of altitude training, in our case using a medically approved therapy device from the company TUR. Due to its positive regulatory influence on a variety of human functions, IHHT has long been used in elite sports and also by people with chronic degenerative diseases.

In summary, IHHT leads to the death of old and damaged mitochondria, while healthy mitochondria are able to produce more energy. You can compare this mitochondrial energy production process to a fireplace. If we supply the fire (mitochondria) with oxygen, it grows stronger and gains heat (energy production). Furthermore, the old, exhausted mitochondria do not survive the transition from an oxygen-depleted to an oxygen-rich phase and are automatically replaced by new powerhouses. Thus, a small ember is transformed into a blazing fire. Whether for strength/endurance training, as a driving force for the body's own healing mechanisms in fighting illness, for fat burning, or for mental fitness; the crucial factor is always the available energy!

It is no coincidence that this type of therapy won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2019.

Specific application possibilities

The application of IHHT PLUS can bring improvements to the following areas:

Cardiovascular diseases

Cardiovascular diseases

30-40% of all deaths in Western civilization are attributable to cardiovascular diseases. IHHT can improve overall cardiovascular health, either as a standalone therapy or in combination with other methods. In cardiovascular diseases, sudden death occurs due to a local and acute blockage of the vessels (e.g., thrombosis) caused by excessive plaque. The body produces plaque to repair damage to the blood vessels, much like glue; it is therefore a necessary repair mechanism and not the underlying problem. Vessel repair occurs rapidly during the relaxation phase, as the heart relaxes and contracts. The longer the relaxation phase, the more time the body has for repair. IHHT optimizes this relaxation phase by improving the resting heart rate. Furthermore, IHHT stimulates the formation of new capillaries in the heart muscle, creating more pathways. If a blood vessel becomes blocked with plaque, the blood is automatically redirected to the new capillary, ensuring blood flow and making a single blockage less fatal. Furthermore, the therapy stimulates the body's own production of nitric oxide, which dilates the vessels and restores their elasticity. All these measures reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and its consequences.

IHHT as legal doping

Elite athletes worldwide have been using altitude training for decades to improve their athletic performance. Intermittent High-Intensity Training (IHHT) is a medical advancement of this, in which the body is supplied with alternating periods of oxygen-depleted and oxygen-rich air (hypoxia and hyperoxia). Competitive athletes place extremely high demands on their bodies. Crucially, in addition to the actual performance in competition, it is essential that the athlete can recover as quickly as possible after strenuous training or competition and reduce any resulting inflammation. In principle, the supply of oxygen-depleted air (hypoxia) helps with inflammation in a similar way to extinguishing a tunnel fire. The fire in the body can be extinguished by cutting off the oxygen supply. Another effect is that weakened mitochondria do not survive this oxygen deprivation and are replaced by new, fully functional ones. At the same time, the still-healthy mitochondria receive a kind of energy boost through the oxygen-rich phase of IHHT, enabling them to produce more energy. You can compare this process of energy production in mitochondria to a fireplace. If we supply the fire (mitochondria) with oxygen, the fire grows stronger and generates more heat (energy production). IHHT raises the anaerobic threshold (also known as the aerobic-anaerobic threshold or lactate threshold). Therefore, IHHT can increase the capacity for athletic performance (both physical and mental) and overall recovery.

Long Covid and other post-viral symptoms

Long Covid and other post-viral symptoms

According to Dr. Arkadi Prokopov, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), in particular, but also other infectious diseases, damage the endothelium, leading to typical symptoms such as fatigue, chest pain, hormonal imbalances, adrenaline deficiency, respiratory problems, and even depression. The endothelium is the innermost layer of blood vessels and is essential for blood flow. In a healthy state, the endothelium's surface is very smooth and, with the help of various enzymes, produces nitric oxide, which improves blood flow, dilates blood vessels, and fights viruses and bacteria. However, when viruses like SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) damage the endothelium, this mechanism no longer functions or is severely impaired. In post-viral diseases, the mitochondria are also damaged, which in itself contributes to many symptoms. The alternating phases of oxygen-depleted and oxygen-rich air (hypoxia and hyperoxia) used in IHHT improve repair mechanisms, leading to faster endothelial regeneration and improved overall vitality. Viruses are weakened, mitochondrial dysfunction is corrected, and the body's own defense mechanisms are strengthened, thus accelerating the recovery process.

Tree losing leaves as a comparison for neurodegenerative diseases

Neurodegenerative diseases such as autism, ADHD, dementia

Neurodegenerative diseases are a combination of chronic brain inflammation and a general weakness of the immune system, along with impaired mitochondrial function. The alternating phases of oxygen-depleted and oxygen-rich air (hypoxia and hyperoxia) provided by IHHT minimize or improve both of these underlying causes. In inflammatory foci, the supply of oxygen-depleted air (hypoxia) is similar in principle to extinguishing a tunnel fire. Just as the fire can be extinguished by cutting off the oxygen supply, inflammation in the body is "extinguished" in a similar way. Another effect is that the weakened mitochondria do not survive this oxygen deprivation and are replaced by new, fully functional ones. Simultaneously, the still-healthy mitochondria receive a kind of energy boost through the oxygen-rich phase (hyperoxia) of IHHT, enabling them to produce more energy. You can compare this process of energy production in mitochondria to a fireplace. If we supply the fire (mitochondria) with oxygen, the fire grows stronger and generates more heat (energy production). Through these mechanisms, the body's own regulatory abilities gain more power and can focus on rebuilding the affected area, thereby improving its condition.

Joint pain

Neuropathy and joint pain due to viral infections

Neuropathies can have various causes, such as mechanical compression of a nerve in the case of a herniated disc or carpal tunnel syndrome. Therefore, the first approach is always to release muscular and fascial tension through a pain therapist. Neuropathic symptoms can also be triggered by viral infections. Certain viruses can infect and damage nerve cells in the brain, the so-called neurons. Consequently, the viruses can spread via the axons (extensions of a nerve cell) and thus cause the typical neuropathic pain. This pain can be perceived as burning or tingling, or as hypersensitivity to touch or cold, and can radiate to the fingers or toes. The spread of the viruses via these axons is very slow (approximately 2 mm per day). The oxygen-deprived phase (hypoxia) used in the IHHT method can significantly improve the body's repair capacity by stimulating the production of nitric oxide and resolving mitochondrial dysfunction. Furthermore, the oxygen-depleted air draws the viruses out of hiding. In the subsequent oxygen-rich phase (hyperoxia), viruses such as Borrelia burgdorferi are exposed and significantly weakened. This weakening allows the newly strengthened immune system to recognize and subsequently fight the viruses. In this way, IHHT can have a positive influence on the recovery process. We recommend that you consult a doctor or pain specialist before undergoing IHHT treatment to rule out any mechanical nerve compression.

Baby lying down

Infertility and improving the health of the unborn child

According to Dr. A. Prokopov, the quality of mitochondria is crucial for male and female fertility. Conversely, the mitochondrial quality of the mother is of paramount importance for the health of the future newborn, as the embryo inherits 100% of its mother's mitochondria. Mitochondria are the primary energy producers in our cells. Given the importance of their function, it can be argued that we would not exist without intact mitochondria. Their main task is the production of energy from nutrients, with oxygen providing the necessary impetus. The energy from mitochondria enables us to breathe, walk, jump, learn, think, and, of course, reproduce. Energy (ATP) is essential for every physiological process – without mitochondria, there is no energy and no life. Mitochondria are partly responsible for fertility and the health of the unborn child. These functions are crucial for the health of the unborn child. The alternation between oxygen-poor and oxygen-rich air is a natural training process that the fetus undergoes in the womb. The oxygen content in the uterus is 7%, while in nature it is 21%. During pregnancy, the oxygen content changes slowly, approaching the 21% of ambient air by birth. This approach, however, is not linear but occurs in intervals, just like with IHHT (Intensive Hyperbaric Hyperbaric Training). This evolutionary training in the uterus serves not only to adapt to the future environment. The most important aspect is that any damaged mitochondria inherited from the mother do not survive this process, and therefore primarily the high-performing mitochondria remain. "Survival of the fittest," so to speak, at the mitochondrial level. Through IHHT, the expectant mother's healthy mitochondria receive a kind of energy boost through the oxygen-rich phase (hyperoxia), enabling them to produce more energy. Furthermore, during the oxygen-deprived phase (hypoxia), old and weak mitochondria are replaced by new, more efficient ones. We recommend starting IHHT 3-6 months before planned conception to restore mitochondria to a healthy level and thus improve the chances of pregnancy. If conception does occur, the unborn child also benefits immensely, as it inherits the mother's healthy mitochondria and can therefore have a better start in life.

Customer feedback

Dear Nathalie, dear Philippe

I enjoyed 10 IHHT sessions; it was simply wonderful how light, pain-free, and refreshed I felt after each and every appointment.

A few days ago, I had a Feldenkrais session for the first time in ages. My therapist says my body is so easy to work with; it's a real joy. I told her about the IHHT (Individual Health Training) I've been receiving and gave her the brochure. That's it! She was absolutely thrilled! You should have seen the look on her face—she was so enthusiastic! That's proof of good work and its effectiveness!

I'm happy to recommend you!

Warm regards
Erika Vogt
